Dr. Chitra Krishnamurthy, Founder and Director, Nrityalaya School of Dance, Maryland, USA presents this dance tribute to Dr. G. Venkataswamy on his birth centenary. The function is scheduled to happen in Madurai on December 30, 2018.

Dr. Chitra Krishnamurti, Founder and Director of Nrityalaya School of Dance, Maryland, USA and her senior students presented dance drama, as a humble tribute to Dr. V on his birth centenary.

Presents a repertoire of traditional dances featuring the unique ancient Odissi style. Odissi is a graceful, elegant, and subtle style that focuses on highly flexible body bends called “Bhangis,” vivid torso movements, intricate technical steps, and self-expression or Ahbinaya. A master class will precede the performance, including a demonstration of the basic stances, torso movements, turns, and jumps. Audience members will be invited to try neck motions, hand gestures, and movements imitating animals such as the peacock, elephant, tiger, swan, fish, and turtle.
