School of Indian Classical Odissi Dance

Nrityalaya, School of Indian Classical Odissi Dance, is located in the D.C. metropolitan area.  It is an institution dedicated to learning not just the motions of Odissi, but immersing in its spirit, graceful aesthetics, and rich culture.  Under the direction of founder Guru Dr. Chitra Krishnamurti, Nrityalaya is the first of its kind in the United States since its establishment in 1990.  The school has produced and performed a number of shows, ballets, and dance dramas with mythological and modern themes to appreciative audiences in the United States and abroad.  As of 2020, it has produced 31 graduates.
